Are you interested in giving people a good reason to "like" your Facebook page? Offer a compelling incentive that's only revealed once someone clicks on that all-important "like" button.

Here's how it works: when non-fans go to your Facebook page, they should enter on a custom landing page that you've created (you can read this post for background). This page should provide a compelling reason for "liking" the page.

Now wouldn't it be great if you could offer the person something special, such as a coupon code for a product or a free thought paper, just for "liking" your page? And wouldn't it be great if this "thing" were automatic (meaning you didn't have to do anything, like deliver said coupon code or thought paper)?

Welcome to "reveal tabs," also known as "fan gates." These handy apps do all the work. Let's say you want to offer a 10% coupon code for people who "like" your page. The main page would tell them that. Then after the people "like" the page, the coupon code would automatically be revealed. Like magic!

Here's an example from The Log Connection. Below is the welcome page before you "like" it.

What's really cool? You don't need to know complicated code in order to make this happen-- several apps already exist that allow you to easily create these reveal tabs. Two to check out: Wildfire and Short Stack.And if you're a HubSpot customer, it just announced in a form.

Consider giving it a try for a month and combining it with some Facebook advertising. See if the Big Reveal helps increase conversions. If you try it, let us know.
