Summer Sensation #3: Water Sports for Your B2B Marketing
Posted by Maureen Condon on Thu, Aug 19, 2010
If you’ve gone tubing, water skiing, jet skiing or surfing, you understand the high that comes from the speed, the exhilaration that comes from the wind and water whipping your face and inviting you to go faster.
If you’ve shied away from these sports, you’re missing out on some serious fun. And isn’t that often the case when you let fear get the best of you?
Taking risks and gambling a bit in your B2B marketing can pay huge dividends. For your business, this may translate to:
- Asking some uncomfortable questions during the sales process to ensure that you acquire a customer that you can serve well, and enjoy along the way
- Partnering with a competitor for the good of a client project - if a competitors offers something you don't, approach them about teaming up to serve the client
- Acknowledging any mishaps or mistakes openly with clients and other key audiences and apologizing quickly to build and sustain honest business relationships
- Sharing customer complaints - and how you resolved them - on your website or social media site
Taking calculated risks may not always end successfully. Like any water sports aficionado, you’ll endure some injuries and accidents along the way, but when you find the perfect ride – or perfect customer – it will be worth every fall.
