Public Relations Strategy: Leverage Your Press Coverage

PR is a gamble and you can never assume that your pitch will get picked up. But if it does, make sure to leverage the coverage.

Here are some tips for maximizing your next piece of press coverage:

  • Announce it! Sending an email blast to your distribution list about the coverage you've received, with a link to your site included, is a great way to extend the life of your press coverage.
  • Generate more press. If you've received an Editors Choice, Top 10 Award or a positive product/service review, it may be worthwhile to send a news release to other relevant media.
  • Include a link in your newsletter. Your newsletter should always include a combination of valuable information for your readers and several links to different areas of your website to drive traffic - and leads.
  • Get official reprints to distribute at shows and other events, to send to prospects as a value-add, or send to customers to keep in touch.
  • If your company publishes a blog, mention your coverage in it - not in a self-serving way, but more as part of the conversation you are having.
